mitts thunk hands clap heads lift up

white ball orbits deep sails leaps onto green

kids perched on wooden bench lulled to sleep

begin to scream banshees adrift in dream

boy sprints counter clock-wise base to base

dust blurs sight dulled cleats bite dry infield dirt

hat lost flew off rounds third tight

out of breath one last peak on mind to climb

head down fast despite hurt shins

slides feet first home plate
